The Award is given annually for the project, of any type, in NSW that displays the best use of timber in its design.
There is an opportunity in the Shoalhaven to show the
benefits of housing, designed with a lower environmental
impact in mind. The concept of 'Sustaining Our
Shoalhaven' and the SOS House project - is a response
to this opportunity.
The SOS House project provides a venue for intending home builders and buyers, various building trades, special interest groups and the community to see a display home promoting the ideals of sustainability, lower energy and water use and better practice in design and construction.
A series of workshops, information tours and events will be conducted during the display home period. Interpretive material and product & service information from participants & Supporters will also be available.
The SOS House project recognizes that building products will continue to evolve in their criteria and the process towards sustainable goals will be different for each company. This project aims to encourage learning and further progress towards better practice. We encourage you to visit the SOS House - and if you are building, renovating or buying a home - please consider lower impact housing.
Thank you for your interest in 'Sustaining Our Shoalhaven'.
